Orientation FAQs

What is an Orientation class?

There are 2 training requirements for new REALTOR® members of the 400 North Association of REALTORS®.  Both training courses must be completed within four months upon completion of the application. All new members must attend a one hour in-class Local 400 North Association Training course offered at our Dawsonville location.  Second, all new members must also complete a qualified New Member Code of Ethics Orientation course.  The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.  The New Member Code of Ethics Orientation course will teach you about the Code of Ethics to which all REALTORS® must abide.

Do I need to attend this Orientation class?

Yes - if you are a new applicant and have not previously held membership in the 400 North Association of REALTORS®. Or, you may take the National Association of REALTORS®' New Member Code of Ethics Orientation online at www.realtor.org ("Take the Code of Ethics" training link and then "New Member Code of Ethics Orientation" link). 

No - if you are transferring from another Association and have already completed the mandatory COE training during the current Quadrennial cycle. (Jan 1, 2009 – Dec. 31, 2012). 

Do I have to attend BOTH a new member Orientation session and a local 400 North Association Orientation?

Yes - all new members MUST attend both sessions to maintain active membership in the 400 North Association.

What is the local 400 North Association training class?

It is a one (1) hour class that all new applicants to the 400 North Association of REALTORS® are required to take before being approved for REALTOR® membership and provides information on local 400 North Association benefits.

Do I need to attend the local 400 North Association training class?

Yes - all new applicants must take this course.

How does it benefit me?

It fulfills Association membership requirements. It educates you on the 400 North Association of REALTORS® membership benefits, facilities, services and the Code of Ethics.

When do I need to take this Orientation class?

The New Member Code of Ethics Orientation course is offered online. The Local 400 North Association training is offered bi monthly. As a 400 North Association applicant, you have four (4) months to complete both training requirements. If, after four (4) months, you still have not completed both training requirements, your membership application will be made inactive. To reactivate your applicant status, you must reapply and repay the application fee. Once you reapply, you will again you have four (4) months to complete both training requirements.

How will this affect my "Circle of Excellence" status?

If you attend the Orientation class within the four (4) month membership requirement, your sales volume will start to count on the date that you applied for new membership. If you did not attend within the four (4) month membership requirement, your sales volume will start to count on the date that you re-applied for membership.

When will I know when the Orientation class is being offered?

Notices are sent monthly to all applicants needing the Orientation. This notice informs you that you still need to complete the requirement and links to the main Orientation page, where the calendar of upcoming courses are displayed.
