State Delegation Revises Forsyth County’s Term Limit Proposal

Forsyth County commissioners are advancing a revised term limits proposal, though it differs from their original plan. Initially, the board sought to limit commissioners to three consecutive terms, allowing them to run again after sitting out one term. However, a revised framework from State Rep. Brent Cox reduces the limit to two consecutive terms, delays implementation until January 1, 2027, and counts any prior service toward the limit.

Despite the stricter approach, most commissioners expressed support, with some emphasizing the importance of establishing term limits and ultimately letting voters decide. The revised proposal also calls for a November referendum to give Forsyth County residents final approval.
